The stand-on segment of commercial mowing equipment is a fast-growing category that provides agility for business owners to move quickly between properties. This project involved an initial field study where we gathered improvement opportunities for operator comfort and styling cues that will help this product line stand out from other competitors. After some initial sketching, our design intent was quickly brought into 3D space by using Gravity Sketch. From this data we were able to develop A-side surfaces parametrically that hit engineering targets such as fuel tank volumes and draft angles. From here the engineering team was able to quickly build a set of prototype machines that are currently being field tested. This new design process allowed us to get to a prototype faster while maintaining our design intent.
